LAWRENCE, Kan. — Oct. 25, 2018 — Cobalt Iron Inc., a leading provider of cloud-based SaaS data protection, today announced that its Compass Accelerators now support an even wider array of industry-leading storage platforms for customers wanting to leverage Dell EMC, IBM, and NetApp storage as well as cloud object storage from Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, IBM Cloud, and Microsoft Azure for data protection. As a result, those customers can easily take advantage of both new and legacy storage for their data protection workloads.

“Cobalt Iron’s unique, modern approach to data protection is to let pay-as-you-grow software do the heavy analytic and operational lifting automatically in the cloud while interfacing to off-the-shelf hardware on premises. To Cobalt Iron, that means we’re embracing customers’ existing investments while completely modernizing their data protection infrastructure,” said Richard Spurlock, CEO and founder of Cobalt Iron. “Our data protection solution, Compass®, is an open architecture that can manage myriad storage platforms. By continuing to add to the list of popular storage products people can use with Compass, we’re helping to ensure companies will not only get more mileage out of their existing storage investments but also be able to exploit investments in new storage hardware and cloud technologies with simplicity.”

Compass Accelerators leverage a variety of storage to deliver Compass' services. Accelerators now support:

  • Dell EMC Data Domain DD3300, DD6300, DD6800, DD9300, DD9800 and previous models
